Why don't photos and videos get much smaller in a ZIP file?

JPG, PNG, MP4, MP3, DOCX, and other formats are already compressed. These files are stored in the ZIP without being recompressed (which is much faster); text files, CSV spreadsheets, simple PDFs, and program files can shrink significantly.

Can I open the ZIP file on Windows, Mac, and my phone?

Yes. It's a standard ZIP file with UTF-8 filenames (so accented characters are preserved). It opens in Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder, Android, and the Files app on iPhone.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
