About this tool
What is HEIC? High Efficiency Image Container (HEIF): the default photo format on iPhone since iOS 11. It uses HEVC video compression to store photos at about half the size of a JPG. Great for storing lots of photos on your iPhone while using less space. Windows, Android, and many websites don’t open HEIC files without extra software, which is why people often convert them.
Why convert to JPG? The world’s most widely used photo format, created in 1992. It uses lossy compression, removing details the human eye can barely notice. It’s the best choice for photos, sharing via WhatsApp or email, and anywhere maximum compatibility is needed—it opens on virtually every device, in every program and on every website.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between HEIC and JPG?
Both use lossy compression. Note: HEIC supports transparent backgrounds, while JPG doesn't—transparent areas will turn white. Compatibility: Windows, Android, and many websites can't open HEIC files without extra software, so converting them is common; JPG works on virtually all devices, programs, and websites.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?
It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
