About this tool

Splitting a PDF lets you send just the part you need from a large document, such as a contract page, a book chapter, or a bill from a statement.

Which split mode should you choose?

ModeExample with a 12-page PDFResult
One page per file—12 files with 1 page each
Every N pagesN = 43 files: 1–4, 5–8, 9–12
Custom page ranges1-2, 3-10, 11-123 files of different sizes

"Every N pages" is useful for evenly sized batches—for example, a PDF containing several two-page pay stubs or bills. File names show the pages in each part (such as -pages-5-8), making it easy to check them.

Split a PDF to meet an upload limit

Platforms, application portals, and some email services limit the size of each file. If your PDF is large because it has many pages, split it into parts. If it's large because of high-resolution images, compressing the PDF may do the trick without splitting it. Often, the best approach is to do both: compress the PDF first, then split any parts that still exceed the limit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter page ranges?

Enter page numbers separated by commas, and use a hyphen for ranges. Example: 1-3, 5, 8-10 creates three files.

Will I get separate files or a ZIP?

If the split creates more than one file, you’ll get a ZIP and can also download each part individually.

Can the same page appear in two ranges?

Yes. Each range becomes a separate file, so 1-3, 3-5 creates two PDFs, with page 3 in both.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?

It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
