QR Code Generator

Create QR codes for links, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, email, and text.

Open tool

See your Wi-Fi password on Android

  1. Open Settings › Network & internet › Internet (or Connections › Wi-Fi on Samsung devices).
  2. Tap the gear icon next to the connected network.
  3. Tap Share (the QR code icon) and confirm with your fingerprint or PIN.
  4. A QR code will appear, with the password shown as text below it.

The other person can scan the QR code with their phone’s camera to connect right away. The exact steps vary by device brand and Android version.

See your Wi-Fi password on iPhone

  1. Open Settings › Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the (i) next to the network.
  3. Tap Password and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. The password will appear, and you can copy it.

There’s a shortcut for Apple devices: when a nearby iPhone tries to join the network, your iPhone can show a prompt to share the password—as long as that person is in your contacts.

Find your Wi-Fi password on Windows and Mac

  • Windows 11: Go to Settings › Network & Internet › Wi-Fi, open the properties for your connected network, and look for the option to show the Wi-Fi security key. On older versions: Control Panel › Network and Sharing Center › click the network name › Wireless Properties › Security tab › check Show characters.
  • Mac: Go to System Settings › Wi-Fi, click the network options, and choose to copy the password. Or open Keychain Access (or the Passwords app on newer versions), search for the network name, and reveal the password by confirming with your Mac password.

Create a QR code for guests

Print a Wi-Fi QR code and put it on the fridge, at your business’s front desk, or on the coffee table. Guests can connect without typing the password or asking for it:

  1. Open the QR Code Generator and choose Wi-Fi.
  2. Enter the network name exactly as it appears (capitalization and spaces matter), the password, and the security type (usually WPA/WPA2).
  3. Download the QR code and test it with the cameras on two different phones before printing.

Android and iPhone cameras recognize Wi-Fi QR codes and offer to "Connect to network." The network is saved on the device that scans it; if you change the password, create a new QR code.

Guest network: the safer option

In theory, anyone on your main network could see other devices in your home, such as printers, cameras, and computers with sharing turned on. Many routers let you create a guest network that's separate from your main network. Turn it on in your router settings (usually available through a browser or your internet provider's app), set a separate password, and share only that one.

To create a strong Wi-Fi password that's still easy to type, the Password Generator has a passphrase option with words separated by hyphens. It's easy to say aloud when you don't have the QR code handy.

Forgot the password and no device has it saved

  • Check the label on the bottom or back of your router. Many routers have the default password printed there, if it hasn't been changed.
  • Connect a device to the router with an Ethernet cable, open the router's admin settings, and find or change the password in the Wi-Fi section.
  • If your router came from your internet provider, its app or support team can usually help you find or change the password.
  • Last resort: pressing the router's reset button restores factory settings, including the password on the label. You'll need to set up your internet connection again.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Wi-Fi QR code reveal my password?

Yes. Anyone who scans it with a reader that displays the contents can see it. That's why it's best to use a QR code for your guest network and avoid posting it in public places.

Will it work with an older phone?

Older phones may need a QR code reader app. If you're not sure, discreetly write the password next to the QR code.

Can I see the password for a network I've never connected to?

No. You can only view passwords for networks your device has saved after connecting to them.

Will changing the Wi-Fi password disconnect everyone?

Yes. Every device will need the new password, including TVs, cameras, and voice assistants. Plan ahead and update the QR code.

Does the QR code generator save my password?

The QR code is generated in your browser; your password isn't sent to any servers.

Can I print the QR code at a small size?

Yes, as long as it's clear. A 1.2- to 1.6-inch square is usually easy to scan from a short distance. Test it after printing.
