About this tool

Ovulation usually occurs about 14 days before your next period (the typical length of the luteal phase). Since sperm can survive for up to 5 days and an egg for about 1 day, the fertile window runs from 5 days before ovulation through 1 day afterward. In a 28-day cycle, ovulation typically occurs around day 14.

Calendar-based calculations work best for regular cycles and are only estimates. Stress, illness, the postpartum period, breastfeeding, hormones, and natural cycle variations can all affect ovulation timing. Your data stays in your browser.

This is not a contraceptive method. The calendar method has a high failure rate with typical use. Choose a birth control method with guidance from a healthcare professional. Frequently asked questions

How do I know when I’m fertile?

Subtract 14 days from the expected date of your next period to estimate ovulation. Your fertile window runs from 5 days before through 1 day after that date. The calculator does this automatically for the next 3 cycles.

Can I use this calculator to prevent pregnancy?

No. Calendar-based estimates aren’t a reliable method of birth control. Talk to a healthcare professional about choosing a suitable method.

What if my cycle is irregular?

Use the average of your recent cycles, but keep in mind that the estimate will be less accurate. Ovulation tests, basal body temperature, and cervical mucus can help you identify ovulation more reliably.

Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?

It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
