How to use: Increase video and audio volume
- Choose a video (MP4, MOV, WEBM) or audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG) with low volume.
- Select the Volume: 200% doubles the amplitude (about +6 dB); 50% makes it quieter.
- Click Adjust volume and check the warning: if the audio sounds distorted, try a lower volume.
About this tool
What it's for
- Video recorded from far away, with quiet speech, that you want to send on WhatsApp.
- Lecture or meeting audio that's hard to hear through headphones.
- Lowering music that's too loud before using it as background audio.
For videos, only the audio is re-encoded: the video is copied as is, with no loss in quality. The output stays in the same format as the original (MP3 stays MP3, MP4 stays MP4).
Limits and distortion
All digital audio has a maximum level. When amplification would exceed it, the peaks are clipped at the limit—and if that happens too often, the sound becomes distorted. That's why the result shows how much of the audio had to be limited. Recordings that are already loud can handle only a small increase; quiet recordings can often handle 300% or 400%. To trim just the part you need, use trim audio; to extract audio from a video, use video to MP3.
Frequently asked questions
How do I increase the volume of a video with low audio?
Upload the video, choose 200% or 300% under Volume, and click Adjust volume. Only the audio is reprocessed; the video remains unchanged. If the result shows that a lot of the audio was limited, go back and choose a lower volume.
How much can I increase the volume without distortion?
It depends on the recording. Quiet audio can often handle 300% to 400%; audio that's already loud may distort above 150%. The tool shows what percentage of the audio exceeded the limit so you can decide.
Can I lower the volume too?
Yes. Choose 50% or 75% to lower the volume—for example, to use music as background audio without drowning out speech.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?
It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
