  • Thin white border: Separates the photo from dark backgrounds in feeds and gives it a developed-photo look.
  • Thick colored border: Creates a consistent look for store posts, menus, and ads.
  • Rounded corners: Adds a modern app-like look, great for screenshots in presentations and websites.
  • Shadow: Adds depth when placing an image on light backgrounds in slides and documents.

Border thickness is proportional to each photo's size, so photos with different resolutions get borders that look equally sized. The photo dimensions themselves don't change—the border is added around the outside.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my file sometimes download as a PNG?

Rounded corners and shadows create transparent areas around the photo, and PNG is the only format that preserves transparency. Without rounded corners or a shadow (or with "Solid color" on the outside), your photo keeps its original format, such as JPG.

How do I make a photo look like a Polaroid print?

Choose the Polaroid style with a white or cream border (#f8f5ee), add a caption, and turn on the shadow. The bottom border is three and a half times wider than the sides, just like a real instant photo.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
