Attention Test
Find the odd symbol in 20 grids that grow from 4×4 to 7×7. Race the clock and see your accuracy and speed.
There are 20 grids with several matching symbols and just one different symbol (like a Q among a bunch of Os). Tap the odd one out as quickly as you can. You have up to 10 seconds per grid, and they grow from 4×4 to 7×7.

About this tool
What the test measures
Finding an item that’s different from a group of similar ones is a classic exercise in visual search and selective attention: you need to ignore the repeated symbols and spot the one that stands out. The symbol pairs are deliberately similar—O and Q, b and d, 6 and 9, M and N—and the grid grows from 16 to 49 symbols over 20 rounds.
Your result combines accuracy (how many times you got it right) and speed (your total time). It’s an attention-training game, not a neuropsychological assessment or a diagnosis of attention deficit.
Tips to improve your score
- Scan systematically: go through the grid row by row instead of searching at random.
- Look at the shape, not the letter: spot the Q’s tail or the d’s stem that breaks the pattern.
- Keep conditions consistent: use the same device, sit the same distance from the screen, and turn off notifications.

Frequently asked questions
Does this test diagnose ADHD or attention deficit?
No. This is a visual search game, not a clinically validated test. ADHD is diagnosed by a doctor or psychologist using an interview and validated assessment tools.
What happens if I click the wrong symbol?
That grid counts as an incorrect answer, and the test moves on to the next one. If the 10 seconds run out, it also counts as incorrect.
Why is it harder on a phone?
On a small screen, symbols are smaller and closer together, and your finger may cover part of the grid. Compare results on the same device.
Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?
It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
