Frequently asked questions

Why 9 MB instead of 25 MB?

Gmail allows 25 MB and Outlook 20 MB, but many corporate email servers limit attachments to 10 MB. Attachments also grow by about 33% when encoded, so aiming for 9 MB helps prevent bounced emails.

What if it doesn't fit?

If even maximum compression can't meet the limit, we'll provide the smallest possible file and let you know. In that case, split your PDF into parts with the Split PDF tool.

Can I still select the text?

If optimizing the file structure is enough, yes. If more compression is needed, pages are converted to optimized images—great for reading and printing, but text can't be selected.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?

It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
