About this tool

Full example: weighted grading period average

A school calculates a grading period average using a test (weight 3), an assignment (weight 2), and participation (weight 1). Grades: 6.0, 8.5, and 10.

AssessmentGradeWeightGrade × weight
Test6.0318.0
Assignment8.5217.0
Participation10110.0
Total645.0

Weighted average = 45 ÷ 6 = 7.5. The simple average of the same grades would be 8.17 — so it’s important to know whether your school uses weighted grades.

Average with a final exam or retake

Each school or college sets its own rules for how a retake counts toward your grade. Common approaches include using the retake grade to replace your lowest grade, taking the average of your term grade and final exam, or using whichever is higher: your original average or your retake grade. Check your student handbook and enter the appropriate weights in the calculator to match the rule — for example, a weight of 1 for your term average and 1 for your final exam.

Calculate your course score for SISU

For SISU, each applicant’s score is a weighted average of their five ENEM scores (four subject areas and the essay), with weights set by each institution for each course. Enter your ENEM scores as grades and the weights for your chosen course to run a simulation. You can find the weights in the institution’s agreement and on the course page in the SISU system. For this use, focus only on the average: the estimate of how much you need on your next test is designed for scores from 0 to 10.

Frequently asked questions

How does a weighted average work?

Multiply each grade by its weight, then divide the sum of those results by the total of the weights. Example: grades of 6 (weight 1) and 8 (weight 2) give (6 + 16) / 3 = 7.33.

What grade do I need to pass?

Enter the minimum passing grade and the weight of your next test to calculate the grade you need. If it’s over 10, we’ll let you know that passing with this test alone isn’t possible.

Is the average rounded?

The calculator displays your average to two decimal places without applying any school rounding rules. Some schools round to the nearest tenth or half point (for example, 7.25 becomes 7.5), but rules vary; check your school’s grading policy.

Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?

It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
