Frequently asked questions

Do phone photos store my location?

If your camera has location access, yes. Each photo can include the GPS coordinates where it was taken, accurate to within a few meters. WhatsApp and Instagram usually remove this data, but email, sending photos as files, cloud storage, and listing sites may keep it.

Will removing metadata reduce image quality?

Not for JPG, PNG, or WEBP files. We remove only the metadata without recompressing the image. The orientation (so the photo doesn’t appear sideways) and color profile are preserved. iPhone HEIC photos are converted to high-quality JPG.

How do I stop my phone from saving my location?

On Android, open Camera › Settings and turn off “Location tags” or “Save location.” On iPhone, go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Camera › Never.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?

It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
