Major online marketplaces have similar requirements: a pure white background (#ffffff), the product filling about 85% of the image, and a square canvas of at least 1000 × 1000 px. Choose white, set padding to 5%–8%, and check "Make square." The JPG output is lightweight and works for product listings.

Smooth edges without halos

High-quality cutouts have semitransparent edges. This tool blends those pixels with the new background properly, avoiding the dark or white outline you get when transparency is simply removed. Why add a background if my PNG is already cut out?

Many platforms don't display transparency correctly. Amazon, eBay, and Walmart require a white background for the main product photo. WhatsApp and some email apps may show transparent areas as black, and JPG doesn't support transparency at all. Add a background here to make your image look the same everywhere.

What happens if my PNG isn't transparent?

The preview will let you know if the image has no transparent areas. In that case, the background only appears in the padding, if you add any.
