Remove Line Breaks
Join lines broken across text copied from a PDF or email, keep paragraphs intact, and remove extra spaces.
Why it happens
PDFs don’t store paragraphs; they store lines positioned on a page. When you copy text, each line ending becomes a break, leaving text pasted into Word, email, or WhatsApp choppy and hard to read.
Step by step
- Copy the text from the PDF and paste it into Remove Line Breaks.
- Choose Join lines and keep paragraphs. This joins the lines while preserving blank lines between paragraphs.
- Select Replace repeated spaces with one, then copy the result.
Words hyphenated at the end of a line (like "rain-" + "coat") aren’t joined automatically because the hyphen may be part of the word. Check these cases.
Working with a whole document? Convert it instead of copying
- To edit text and keep its formatting, use PDF to Word, which rebuilds paragraphs and removes end-of-line hyphenation.
- For text only, PDF to text creates a .txt file with content from every page.
- Need to replace a term throughout the text afterward? Use Find and Replace.
Frequently asked questions
Can I do this in Word?
Yes. Use Find and Replace to replace paragraph marks with spaces, but this also joins actual paragraphs. The online tool keeps the blank lines between paragraphs.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. Processing happens in your browser, and the text you paste never leaves your device.
Does it work with text from a scanned PDF?
If the PDF is scanned, there’s no text to copy. Run it through PDF OCR first, then paste the result.
