About this tool
What extracted color palettes are used for
Designers use palettes from reference photos to create visual identities for social media posts, presentations, and websites. It's also the quickest way to find a logo's colors when no one has the brand guidelines, or to choose text that goes with a cover photo.
Export formats
- CSS: Variables
--cor-1,--cor-2… ready to paste into your theme. - JSON: A list of HEX, RGB, and proportions, useful for Figma (with plugins), Tailwind, and scripts.
- GPL: Palette format for GIMP, Inkscape, and Krita.
To convert a code between HEX, RGB, and HSL or check text contrast, use the color converter.
Frequently asked questions
How are dominant colors selected?
The image is reduced in size, then its colors are grouped using the median cut method and refined with k-means. Each group becomes a palette color, and its percentage shows how much of the image it represents. Transparent areas are ignored.
Why does my logo's exact color look a little different?
Smoothed edges and JPG compression create in-between shades that affect the average. For logos, use the original PNG file and choose just a few colors (2 to 4) for a result that closely matches your brand colors.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device, and not a single byte is sent over the internet. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Is it really free? Is there a daily limit?
It's free with no daily limits. Processing happens on your device, so there's no per-use cost and no need to limit you.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. The site works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, and Linux—no installation needed.
